Caleb Antonio-Rooney
06
He has just completed his sixth season of racing and has had a passion following motorsport from a very young age.
One in a Quarter midget where it all started. Then three years in the Formula 2 (F2) Midget Class. Caleb was the youngest driver at the time to win the sort after Heritage Shield feature race and he finished 3rd in the Auckland Champs during the 2015/2016 season. After the 2016/2017 season, Caleb managed to further obtain success by being awarding the F2 club champion! In addition, he placed 3rd in the Western Springs Series, 1st Baypark Feature and 2nd in the Heritage Shield. This coming season (2021/2022), Caleb will again be looking to run in the A Grade Midget-Class, which will be his 5th year.
Caleb always knew he wanted to race on dirt tracks.
Unfortunately, at 9 years’ old he had unexpected life threatening emergency bowel surgery. This set back his ability to race until 2013 where he was all cleared and he regained his confidence to follow his dream.
When he was 15 years old, he was given a dispensation to move up from the Quarter Midget Class to the F2 Midget Class where he has been racing adults. Caleb has proven he can compete well at the A Grade level as he learns his race craft.
There is an exceptional opportunity for sponsors to join Caleb in his progression through motorsport, as he is very focused on being successful. Caleb is a very mature well-mannered young man, reflecting well on any company that should come on board with him. Caleb loves to get in the seat after a busy year with studies, working part-time and understands building a loyal relationship with his sponsors and supporters is essential for success. Working hard on and off the track as he does has paid off for him so far. Not only is Caleb striving to be the best he can on and off the race track but he is currently in his his fifth year of a BCom / LLB (Honours) conjoint degree with majors in accounting and finance at The University of Auckland. Caleb is very committed student and that is certainly reflecting on his grades he is achieving.
In addition, Caleb also has a passion for performance off the track; he was part of the University of Auckland Law Revue Show, at SKYCITY Theatre which saw Caleb with a lead role in the show.
